Earthwise Organic Designs owner, Bob Dahm, was born on a farm in NW Iowa. His Dad was a farmer and his Mom was a teacher and a soil conservation activist. He watched his Dad, Grandfather, brother (the only one that went into farming) and many of their farmer friends die of cancer. The prostate cancer rate for his home county was many times greater than the national rate. Bob felt called to do what he could to help the world become an environmentally safer place to live.
Years later, when he was the groundskeeper at a children’s hospital, Bob started using organic methods and products on the playground. After 3 years, the playground was looking better than the rest of the grounds that were treated with conventional chemicals and pesticides - and it was easier to maintain. Hospital staff asked me to do use organics at their homes. This was in 1986, and the start of almost 40 years of using organic lawn and landscape practices to help people and organizations .

Our mission is to help people do the right thing. By that we mean restoring the environment, fighting climate change, supporting at-risk wildlife and their habitat, and creating personal sanctuaries where people interact with nature in their own backyards.
